Legislation You Should Know About

HB272 – Poker rooms: An act relating to card rooms and card operations, and permitting issuance of a license to own a card room and conduct card games…. –passed House, bill in Senate Judiciary - opposed – Eagle Forum Alaska (EFA) opposes any expansion of gambling in Alaska

SB20 – Offenses against unborn children – passed Senate, bill in House Judiciary – EFA supports this bill

SJR20 - Same Sex Marriage Benefits - Constitutional ammendment to protect the sanctity of Marriage in Alaska. Passed Senate Judiciary, in Senate Finance - EFA supports this resolution.

HJR32 - Same Sex Marriage Benefits - Constitutional ammendment to protect the sanctity of Marriage in Alaska. In House Judiciary - EFA supports this resolution.

HCR25 - In House Education Committee - Resolution supporting consistent regulation of district and statewide correspondence programs, and encouraging the Department of Education and Early Development to remove student allotment restrictions on all Correspondence students. – EFA supports this bill.

HB400 – An act relating to disasters and confiscation of firearms. This bill would ban law enforcement from confiscating weapons from law-abiding citizens during a disaster such as Hurricane Katrina. – Bill is in House Judiciary. Eagle Forum Alaska supports this bill.

HB426 – An act relating to medical assistance eligibility and coverage for persons less than 21 years of age. This bill closes some of the loopholes in the Denali Kid Care program. Last year a minor’s adult boyfriend registered the girl for Denali Kid Care and she obtained an abortion – all without consent or knowledge of her parents. Eagle Forum Alaska supports this bill.
